I recently read a wee story about someone who asked an artist to create a painting of a horse from a photograph.
The artist said that it would take 10 years for him to do it and that he would return the photograph then.
After 10 years the person came to recover her photograph along with the painting.
The artist greeted her and took her along into his studio where he took out an untouched canvas - and with just one or two swift swishes of his brush a beautiful horse appeared .
The lady very confused and disappointed asked 'why on earth did you ask me to wait 10 years if you can paint from a photograph so quickly?'
The artist did't answer her - instead he took her along to another part of his studio and there when he opened the door she saw that there were little drafts of paintings of horses all over the place !
With a deep sigh he explained that he had spent 10 years to improve the capacities necessary to paint the photograph of the horse within so short a time.
The simplicity of wisdom thus asks for a long period of time to occur naturally.
The moral of the story is .. Simplicity is a state of mind which can't be reached without hard practice.
To be a simple person is a higher condition than to be someone who's complicated in their life.
It's like good food - one should eat simply and not overdo it.
To be simple is regular but not tedious.
To be simple is subtle - not weak.
To be simple is a kind of beauty which has it's own original savour.
