On re-naming NCN to R.......82 comments
category picture6 Nov 2009 @ 04:32
Dear Susanahbe,

After the last comments you made to me on your Random newslog, I was struck speechless for a few days, so forgive my delay in response. I just didn't know what to say...it's one of those "wow" moments in your life when you realize you've been given an incredible opportunity, one that you probably don't even deserve. It's "an offer I can't refuse".

I realized that what you've offered me is really very generous, (regarding your idea that I write Ming about your blog, "Random"). I mean, here you are, having created one of the important social movements of our time, (Randomness) and after all that time, expense, work and frankly, GENIUS.... you just give away the glory of writing Ming to somebody who hardly knows you. "Wow". That brings a tear of joy to my eyes, but I will also confess, a certain feeling of unworthiness that comes with grave responsiblity.

But then again, that's what ALL great leaders do isn't it? They delegate responsibility! They provide challenging tasks to their underlings, so that those who can only aspire to such greatness, have an opportunity for their own personal growth. What an honor! So I did indeed write Ming as you suggested, and have strived to be worthy of the task. That letter follows...I trust that it will measure up to your high standards.

P.S.
I don't wish to presume further upon your newslog, and distract from your latest profound and highly Random "clown post", or the many Random commentaries which will inevitably follow. So, I was contemplating the idea of honoring your Randomness further by asking a favor from Spells. I'm going to ask her to post this whole conversation on her Newslog, under the heading, "On changing NCN to "R". This way, you can be as Random as need be, and Cause dictates, while discussion on this important matter can be had elsewhere. ( I can't post it on mine right now, because of my new post, that is, I will sheepishly admit, not as Random as it ought to be) After all, you've done the important work here, and more certainly cannot be expected of you. You've crystallized the very essence of what NCN has become! This makes you the very center of the cyclone! The very green of the grass! The very karmic foci for world change! The very...well you get the idea....forgive my over-enthusiasm. Now it's time for others to follow your example to give THEIR all, and do the necessary work of RANDOMNESS.

/////////////

Dear Ming,

It is a great honor to bring something of this import to your attention. This regards a new, no less than COSMIC development on your forum, whose implications it is my duty to highlight.

Susanahbe has come up with a new name and definition for the New Civlization Network, and has generously suggested that I contact you about it. What I said to her about this a few days ago, sums up the situation for your review...

4 Nov 2009 @ 00:59 by rishi : Random Indeed
Dear Susannahbe,

Reading through the various posts here as I sometimes do, I noticed one blog called "Random".

I thought about that for a few days, reflecting upon your statement to the effect of, "DEFINITION:
Having no specific pattern, purpose, or objective."

Hmmm, I mused..."Random"

Random Indeed! This single word, as well as the definition you offered above, is exactly what the New Civilization Network has become, summarized in a single stroke. Brilliant! Genius! You've summarized instantly what I've tried to say about this place in exactly 6 LETTERS. As a matter of obvious fact, in 999 out of a thousand days, it does indeed, "have no specific pattern, purpose, or objective", given of course, that almost nobody here at present does either.

For this reason, I really think you ought to write Ming an e-mail, suggesting he change the name of this website from "New Civilization Network" to "Random".
That at least would be more honest, since the posts and comments that typically follow on this forum, are far more "random" than they are "new civlization".

Also, this blog could then serve as the new flagship model for a great new social movement of the same name..."random"! That would fit in nicely with the state of modern mass media too!

And to this Susanahbe said, “Rishi, I think if it concerns you so greatly then YOU should write to our kind and generous host Ming (who allows us ALL to express ourselves as we see fit)and tell him he should rename the site - I am sure he would REALLY welcome your wise advice.”

////////////////////////////

So what do you think, brother Ming? Do you like the idea of changing "NCN" to "R"? Your posts have been pretty much in keeping with this trend too, "podcars" and all. And so, I feel confident that you will be warm to the idea. In the spirit of democracy, it's time we all acknowledged the, "will of the people" in their desire for "Randomness" don't you think? This is especially true since this place has nothing whatsoever to do with creating a "new civilization" any more, even from your end. Almost every post and the comments that follow, are as Susanahbe has brilliantly defined... “Having no specific pattern, purpose, or objective”. Yes, well put…my thoughts exactly.

If Spells agrees to this suggestion, I invite you ahead of time to discuss this very important matter of Randomness on her Newslog...what do you say?

One last thing, oh former purveyor of new civilizations....I thought we might create a new chat room at "R" that more closely reflects it's current purpose. I've thought of many names for it, and among these I humbly suggest one of the following; "No purpose at All", "Bubbleheads for all things Bright and Bouncy", "Down with Meaning!, (who needs it?)", "Long live Mediocrity!", "There is no Truth, so who Cares?", "Bored Housewives make Better Lovers, (or at least gossips)", "Enquirer magazine as the New Gospel", "Prozac PROVIDES", "Social responsiblity is for Chumps", "The World is Dying... why Bother Trying?", "Zero Fiddles while Earth Burns", "Talking Shit is IT", "Everybody Loves a Clown", "Googles of Gossip" and last but certainly not least, "Making Something out of Nothing". I'm sure Susanahbe would have even better suggestions, although that last one is hard to top.

In this new chat room, or even somewhere on the regular forum of newslogs, we could have a daily competition, which comes in two phases. The first is where we all sit down together at an appointed time each day for a year, and get SERIOUSLY RANDOM. Susanahbe, (or somebody she appoints to this important task) could start by saying something absolutely irrelevant, and which doggedly avoids anything with real meaning. This can be followed by dozens of others, each in turn saying something totally off topic and pointless from the person before them...the more Random the better! Just imagine it! A whole "conversation" each day for two hours at a time, where everybody speaks, nobody listens or cares, and the truth is put in it's proper place...the "oval file". The second phase is where Ming, (or perhaps an authoritative panel of Randomness experts appointed by Susanahbe) goes through the text of each "conversation", and every week gives the proud, "Excellence in Entropy" award to whoever can be, "The Most Random". Perhaps even a little plaque with their engraved name, could be mailed to each honored recipient, along with an "EE" lapel pin?!?

Oh my! Silly me...and how very unobservant! We've already accomplished phase one of this project 5 times over! Well then, let's move on to phase two shall we? I nominate Susanahbe for this weeks', Excellence in Entropy Award. Do I have a second?

I look forward to your response, Ming.

Sincerely,
Rishi

Prayer for a Good Death1 comment

To the sender of this message,

I want to compliment you on this group of messages which are so incredibly true and necessary. No doubt that the general public reaction to them is a very stupid one, which only goes to further reinforce the main point being made. I for one however, fully appreciate this mailing. It is by far the best I've received in years. It would be a particular pleasure to speak with the person who wrote that prayer to the Great Spirit, for it is filled with the kind of true humility, intelligence and wisdom befitting a real spiritual practitioner, not all these phoney-baloney new age fakirs.

My thanks also for the honor of including one of my articles in conjunction with these great works. Hopefully that inclusion will actually accomplish such noble aims as the author/compiler sought to establish in the public mind.

If you would like to correspond I would actually be enthusiastic in doing so, even though I've recently stopped mailing and writing because of the general impression that "no one gives a damn". Obviously at least a few people truly care as evidenced by the great honesty of these writings. Whoever composed them evidently cares more for telling the unvarnished truth than for public approval, and for that I am imminently grateful.....

Prayer for a Good Death

Great Spirit, I am unworthy;
My species has disgraced itself.
Of all the species that live, or have ever lived,
Mine is the lowliest.

Lower than the flowers who fill the air with sweet pollen,
Lower than the trees who encircle the Earth with their roots,
Lower than the insects, rulers of Earth

Since the beginning of time,
Lower than the darting fish,
Lower than the soaring birds,
Lower than the four-legged creatures,
Who are the beating heart of the living Earth.

Great Spirit, my shame is as deep as the ocean,
And my sadness is unbearable.
I pray for enlightenment,
But fear that my prayer is too late.

Great Spirit, if this be so, then I pray for extinction.
Let my species become extinct, and vanish from the Earth.
Let my loins be barren,
Let my seed not sprout,
Let the race of men fall like leaves.
Let my fields grow wild,
Let my fences crumble,
Let my cities turn to dust, and become forests.
Let the grass drink my blood;
Let my body be food for worms.
Great Spirit, let me die, that the Earth may live.

"IT IS DISTANCE AND FOR THAT REASON DIFFICULT BUT IS NOT SO DISTANCE"

"Global Warming": If I had a child today. My grand child born today will be old as I am today 2062. It is not far away in terms of generations of people that are around. You can care about this issue because of the people you know. If not what is the use of having children as they won't be able to survive because of our greed and matter worshipping. We are in the fossil field era of human history. If human kind is going to have a future on this planet it is absolutly inevitable that we are going to find a new energy source or humankind is on a destructive suicidal path to oblivion with the "ECOCIDE." President Bush abandoning the "Kyoto Protocol" that aims at reducing industrial emission link to "Global Warming"but in his statement says, " The hell with the future generations. I and my corporate buddies already have ours and the hell with the planet. I have to take care of the American economy and my elite backers of industry. We follow the "Vile Maxim" of the Masters of Mankind: All for ourselves and nothing for other people for we want ours now and to enjoy it now!"

It is distance when the environment is finally forced to file for bankruptcy because its resource base have been polluted, degraded, dissipated and irretrievably compromised and the economies of the world will go down with it...so what does that say about the future of "Capitalism" as we know it.

Human happiness, and certainly human fecundity are not as important as a wild and healthy planet. There are scientists who remind us that people are a part of nature, but it isn't true. Somewhere along the line--at about a billion years ago maybe half that we as a species quit the contract and became a cancer. We have become a plague upon ourselves and upon the "Earth". It is cosmically unlikely that the developed world will choose to end its orgy of fossil (U.S.A., China, India etc). Energy consumption and the "Third World" its suicidal consumption of landscape is devastating to the eco-system...until such time as Homo Sapiens should decide to rejoin nature - some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along for growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the Cancer Cell*. Good planet are hard to find. David M. Graber - National Park Service

*Cancer Cell: It is as if cancer cells have been heavily indoctrinated with the ideology of individualism and personal achievement:
Imagine a mass of cancerous tissue and the cells of which enjoyed consciousness...would they not be full of self-congratulatory sentiments at their independence than their more advanced level of development..their rapid rate of growth (GNP)? Would they not sneer at their more primitive cousins who were bound into a static and unfree existence with limited aspirations subject to heavy group constraint and obviously "Going Nowhere"? Would they not rejoice in their control over their destiny and cheer the conversion of more and more normal cells as convincing proof of the validity of their own way of life? Would they not in fact feel increasingly triumphant right up to the moment the organism on which they fed expired?  More >

 Happy Mother-Killers' Day7 comments

Happy Mothers Day??

It is Mother's Day and my "gift" to you is the truth about this obligatory Hallmark-consumer Holiday. "Mothers Day" started out as a movement for peace, a cause with great merit, but our society has turned it into an obligatory, card sending, must take mom out to "dinner" day. This falls in line with the shallow way we treat important issues and topics.

So the next time you want to say "Happy Mothers Day", instead honor the soul that is here on this planet and do something that will better the world. Honor the truth, don't ignore and don't do things just because everyone else is doing it or it feeds egos...

Are you happy about being a Mother in this age of "pre-emptive" war?

Better yet, honor the truth by upholding the value of peace, human life and in fact, the quality of life itself, by joining together to oppose this senseless war in Iraq. Just like these mothers of the Civil War, rekindle that sense of reverence for life and truth....

Love and CLARITY,
SandiMom

Breakup Of The North Pole
From Dirk Dunning
dirkdunning@sprintmail.com
8-15-4

I am stunned almost to speechlessness.

The northeast passage across the siberian polar ice is open. The glaciers on Ellesmere Island and the northern and northeastern shores of Greenland are collapsing within a matter of days. The channel between Greenland and Ellesmere Isalnd is open. And only about 250 miles of ice remains on the north shore of Greenland connecting it to the polar ice. And that is breaking up.

Vast stretches of polar ice are pulverized and floating free in the Arctic ocean. Thousands of square miles of ice are pulverized and on the edge of breaking up into a billion ice bergs.

An immense rent has formed in the ice north of Queen Victoria Island. An even larger tear reaches up from Siberia poking at the north pole itself.
The entire north shore of Akaska is Ice free, as is all of the northern Siberian shore - all the way to the New Siberian Islands and beyond.

The last of the ice blocking the Northwestr passage at the east end of Queen Elizabeth Island is breaking up.

In short, the north pole is falling apart. And some claim global warming isn't real!?

Within weeks, the refreeze should begin. Depending on how long it is before that happens, massive chnages may occur at the pole before the freeze. The polar ice may well break free from land on ALL sides!!

This is one of the most astounding events in all of human history. And where is it on the news????  More >

Being Dislike and/or Being Misunderstood23 comments

Being Dislike and/or Being Misunderstood

Someone once said to me..”I would rather be disliked, than misunderstood”. I see the truth of these words, but it appears that both can also be the situation. Now please don’t misunderstand this post (no pun intended). I am NOT looking for compliments, ego boosting, words of encouragement, advice or anything of the sort. I only want to clear the air and be real.

What prompted me to write this little post is a private message I recently received . I was told off in so many words and then blocked from responding. OK, that is his/her prerogative. But in all honesty, I see it as cowardly, defensive, immature and sneaky.

I am not here for image. I am here to share the truth with other souls on their journey. Sometimes this truth is harsh and to the point. But enough sugar coating is done without my help. This may come off as “unloving, unspiritual, harsh, negative, judgmental ...to point out some of the “labels” I have been called. When I am told this I always ask the same question…what could be more loving than telling the truth so that others can see it and progress from there?

Repeating messages was another accusation thrown at me in this little private message. Yes, I do repeat myself, but only to make a point. When a post or comment is answered within paragraphs of the original post, this is done to be clear and thorough. So many points are missed when discussion gets going and my hope is to directly answer key topics in the hopes of inspiring deep discussion. When the points are not addressed, it is my habit to bring them up again. That way I may be disliked but not misunderstood. The same is true of questions that are not answered or not answered directly or honestly.

Contrary to popular belief, and I did have to do a lot of digging to see this clearly, I am not by nature a negative person. As I have said countless times before….don’t shoot the messenger. I don’t fool around though and I look at the bottom line in all situations. If it is not the cause of the problem that is being addressed, then the problem will not go away. Pure and simple. That is NOT my rule, it just is.

Now getting back to the message sent the other night. It wasn’t so much the words that struck me, as it was the psychic attack that I strongly felt. I (as many here) am very sensitive and when an illness, pain, discomfort or other symptom strikes me, I question where it comes from. I woke up yesterday morning with a migraine. My head hurt so much I wanted to just scream. I meditated and looked for the source and guess who popped in my head?..…the author of that message. I didn’t know yet that I had received the message, but after long meditation I knew who was attacking me. Of course, this was confirmed as soon as I logged onto NCN and saw what was written.

I am telling you this, not to attack anyone, but to ask you to please be aware! Psychic vibe and attack are not often talked about among members of a group, (or in our society) because we want to believe everyone is coming from good intent. But watch out for those that care more for image and their own self gratification then true spiritual ministry. They are very good at deception and convincing you that they are right and caring. They are very good at minimizing key points, pointing fingers of accusation and/or changing the subject.

Please always go within and seek the answer, don’t take another’s word for it. Also use meditation, logic and reasoning. And please also remember…it is said that the truth hurts, but this matters not for it is still the truth, no matter how you may feel.

Peace, love and clarity,
Spells  More >
