14 Feb 2003 @ 13:30 by sharie : Boycots and refusing to protect
When I said we're on the verge of World War III, people laughed that I could jump to such conclusions. They saw no evidence. The facts lau in a trial five decades behind us, with this same U.S. administration (Kissinger, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Daddy Bush, etc.) providing "peace-keeping" missions in third world countries, chasing out "communists" that believed United Fruit Company shouldn't own the land, it's seaports, and it's airports, while paying pennies a day to its laborers. "Foreign aid packages" worth "millions" were actually weapons costing a few thousand dollars to manufacture. Weapons companies billed the U.S. taxpayers for millions of dollars, so they could equip the dictators of these poor countries.
Now we're being told there's no money to pay the school teachers we need so we'll have to put 50 kids to a classroom ... 16-year olds will be offered *civil service assignments* in lieu of their classroom courses? Offered the opportunity of adventure and a $1200 a month paycheck to join the *service*?
An endless war needs an endless supply of soldiers to sacrifice.
Meanwhile, Europe and Asia and Russia and the arabian peninsula are all in an uproar, so the "U.S." will boycott them, and to withdraw military troops. Let the people slaughter themselves, they say, there won't be petrol or food to keep them alive. Troops have already invaded the north and south of Iraq. World War Three is at our door, is there a way to avert it?
Thank you Sandi, for posting this article.
