One rule: everything posted must be free. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, or an old door to be given away, it can be posted on the network. Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself? Respond to the posting directly and you just might get it. After that it is up to the giver to set up a pickup time for passing on the treasure. Freecycle
Do you have treasures to pass along to people in your community? Maybe there are some valuable things which have been taking up some space in your home, and you are more than ready to have someone come pick them up soon. Are you open to the Universe gifting you with some new wonderful item? Well then, maybe this network is for you!! I see that we have a new group forming here in Auckland. (I see my old hometown-the Twin Cities/Minnesota has over 2,000 members). Enjoy! Magical Melody
The worldwide Freecycle Network is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is run by a local volunteer moderator (them's good people). Membership is free. Click on your city's link and if it does not come up, start your own group. It takes about ten minutes to start your own group. Have fun and keep on Freecyclin'!
So far, Number of cities freecycling: 991
Number of people freecycling: 228,545
See if your city is a part of this wonderful network: Free Cycle

While I like freecycle, I also like another service at www.abcfree.com. Both services are all about keeping useful goods out of our landfills, so the
earth is the big winner. I like ABCFree because it allows you to make a "wish list" and you just get contacted when something that you are looking for
comes up in your area. Also, ABC gives a portion of its revenue to schools so kids are also big winners.

31 Mar 2005 @ 22:46 by magical_melody : Thanks George,
I appreciate the info and link you provided. Yes, the freecycle group here has been a slow starter, but is taking off at a gradual pace and I am grateful that I received a couple desired items over the past month, and will be posting some items in the loop soon too. I will look into the group you have mentioned to see if someone has created one in this area. I especially like the bit about the wish list and someone contacting you, sounds like total abundance! I agree with you that this also supports the Earth. Cheers, Alana

i've heard that this is a great place to get almost anything for free... i think it is one of the best things i've ever heard of..... i'm a 50 yr woman. living alone and have been trying to find someone who would have a half decent computer or laptop that they would give me... it would surely pass the time for me, it would also be great for me to stay in contact with my daughters and my grandkids.... any help would be greatly appreciated..... i lives in Twillingate, Newfoundland.
