 The Silent West...3 comments

It has been a while since I last posted. Like so many others my life is a 'merry-go-round', never enough time to do all of things I want to do. I have managed however to keep up with my reading and research and I want ask a question

Why the silence?

Recent events in my country with regards to announced actions to protect our indigenous children and women have been met with interesting responses from the 'politically correct lobby'. Their concerns centre more on ideals than helping to stop inherent abuse of our children and also women. I fail to understand this attitude.

Likewise we are silent - mute - when it comes to speaking out about the abuse that is metered out daily in third world countries. As an example a report compiled on the request of the Federal Women Division, places the number of honour killings in Pakistan at around 2,500 to 3,000 cases every year.

The report, however, adds that a good number of honour killing cases still go unreported or are passed off as suicides. Not more than 25 per cent honour killing cases are brought to justice, states the report while calling for tougher laws on domestic violence. Please do not think this behaviour is restricted to countries like Pakistan it happens in the UK, the Netherlands, India, Africa, the US to name but a few. We now have the judiciary supporting abuse of women. The following ruling took place in Germany earlier this year.

23/03/2007: 'He beat her and threatened her with murder. But because husband and wife were both from Morocco, a German divorce court judge saw no cause for alarm. It's a religion thing, she argued.' (Der Spiegel)

The Koran seems to have become the basis for a court decision in Frankfurt. I have just finished reading Infidel by Ayaan Hirse Ali, she makes similar points regards the behaviour that she witnessed firsthand in The Netherlands.

Men go to war whilst turning a blind-eye to the brutalisation of women and millions of women themselves stay silent. Why I ask myself? Well I have made myself a vow, I will no longer stay silent. More of us need to speak out and support our 'sisters' around the world.  More >

Believe or not…

“Once upon a time there was a little Green monkey who lived in Africa. There was nothing unusual about this monkey except it had AIDS. One day a native was walking in the forest and the AIDS infected monkey bit him on the butt. As a result of the bite, the native also contracted AIDS. Now this native when he next went into town slept with a prostitute and as a result the prostitute was infected with AIDS. The prostitute slept with a Banker and in doing so passed the AIDS virus onto the Banker. The banker slept with his wife and three girlfriends and so on and so on.

As a result of this one little monkey biting a native on the butt 75 million people in Africa became infected with AIDS.”  More >

The following has been used for a local TV add. I love the music and it prompted me to search for the lyrics. How true huh!!!

Mad World Lyrics
by Gary Jules

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world ... world
Enlarge your world
Mad world

The events of late that have resulted in the exchange between people with respect to behaviours have prompted me to write this. This is not intended as a criticism of anyone, that is neither my place nor my right, merely an observation. A wake-up call for me.

This is a gathering place for people with a desire to change the world and to create a new world based on harmony, respect and understanding. A world based on equality, honesty and not control or suppression. There are many here who see themselves as so called light-workers, healers, teachers and moral campaigners. I am one of those people. Yet, in reality as a group are we any different in our reactions and behaviours to the reactions and behaviours that we are so keen to eliminate?

 MY Rant.......3 comments

What have we done to our youth that prompts such vicious and disgusting behaviour? Yesterday afternoon in a small Suburban Park in Sydney a 9-year old girl was set alight. She has 3rd degree burns to 30 to 40 percent of her body. As you would expect she is in a serious condition with months of hospital stay ahead of her. Her family are in shock, understandable. This little girl was just going to the park with her brothers and sisters and stepmother to play. Whilst this hasn’t been established beyond doubt, 2 young people were sighted running from the scene wearing Halloween masks. This isn’t a first, it has happened before in what we so smugly call the lucky country.  More >

A Smile Costs Us Nothing7 comments

This morning I was in one of my local shopping centres. I am off travelling tomorrow so needed to pick up a few things before I leave. I popped into the supermarket and came face to face with a sad looking man, he appeared to be African. I smiled (as I am prone to do) and his face lite up with this wonderful smile in return. He asked how I was – we exchanged a few words and each went our way.  More >

I am feeling whimsical today, thinking of the meaning of my life. Why I am here, wishing I could go home. Please indulge me as I share my feelings, as this is food for my soul. This is the substance that gives me the strength to face another day, another challenge.

Tomorrow someone I work with will be told she no longer has a job with the company that she has worked for over 27-years. I feel sorry for her and I feel angry with her because she should (could) have taken control of her life, listened and done something about addressing the issues that had been raised with her. Many people went ‘out on a limb’ for her – but she refused to change, refused to listen and now she will pay the price. Even though I am angry with her my heart feels for what she will go through tomorrow. She has no partner, no support net; she will be largely on her own. I know her; she will continue to drive people away. I also feel to some degree that I have failed which is what prompted me to write the following.

The glen is alive you can feel the spirit,
The water nymph dances across water and sky,
The dragonfly hovers above the reeds,
and life is good.

The birds gather to share their thoughts,
The clouds in the sky are fluffy and white,
The deer graze on grass lush and green,
and life is good.

The fairy dell is ablaze with colour,
The flowers with faces smiling bright,
The bees sup until they fall to sleep,
and life is good.

The earth worms slither through growth thick and moist,
The insects chatter and scavenge for food,
The sun is shining and full of warmth,
and life is good.

The trees stand tall protecting the earth,
The rains gentle mist forms a gossamer veil,
The guardians of the earth are in their heaven,
and life is good  More >

 Embrace Me2 comments

When I am young and can't fend for myself
Embrace me and keep me warm....

When I am sad and struggling with life..
Embrace me and keep me safe

When I am happy and full of joy..
Embrace me so that I may share my happiness

When times are tough as indeed they are..
Embrace me give me the courage to keep going

When success comes my way through sweat and toil..
Embrace me for you played a part in helping me there

When you are old and can't fend for yourself..
I will embrace you and keep you warm..
