Each dewdrop and raindrop has a whole heaven in it.
---Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Life is an unanswered question, but let's still believe in the dignity and importance of the question.

---Tennessee Williams

Every day is a god, each day is a god, and holiness holds forth in time. I worship each god, I praise each day splintered down, splintered down and wrapped in time like a husk, a husk of many colors spreading, at dawn fast over the mountains split.

Along with any notions of nonBiblical sex, America is packing away its dreams and memories of a liberal nation. Also into hiding and whispers go any thought of rebellion against stolen elections and a corrupt republic. It's housecleaning time and the jazzoLOG sites have become as messy as those storefront Democratic headquarters in every town, now returned to haunted vacancy. Democrats certainly need practice in organization and calm judgment.

Tomorrow a House of Representatives Judiciary Subcommittee is conducting a forum in Columbus, Ohio, in an effort to discover if any factual wrongdoing was done in voting and tabulation procedures in this state. There also is a recount beginning here, with a plan in place should the result turn out differently than what will be considered by the Electoral College. Also tomorrow a lawsuit may be filed at last in Ohio that has been promised for a couple weeks; at this point I'm not sure what it will be about. Message boards on fraud in the American election continue to grow and are loud and angry day and night, but real facts about alleged crimes are fading into conspiracy theories.

Thanks to my dear friend Robert Whealey, Emeritus Associate Professor of History at Ohio University, I can close with this list of facts about our election for your consideration~~~

20 Amazing Facts About Voting in the USA

by Angry Girl

[link]

Did you know....

1. 80% of all votes in America are counted by only two
companies: Diebold and ES&S.

[link]

[link]

2. There is no federal agency with regulatory
authority or oversight of the U.S. voting machine
industry.

[link]

[link]

3. The vice-president of Diebold and the president of
ES&S are brothers.

[link]

[link]

4. The chairman and CEO of Diebold is a major Bush
campaign organizer and donor who wrote in 2003 that he
was "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral
votes to the president next year."

[link]

[link]

5. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel used to be chairman
of ES&S. He became Senator based on votes counted by
ES&S machines.

[link]

[link]

6. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel, long-connected with
the Bush family, was recently caught lying about his
ownership of ES&S by the Senate Ethics Committee.

[link]

[link]

[link]

7. Senator Chuck Hagel was on a short list of George
W. Bush's vice-presidential candidates.

[link]

[link]

8. ES&S is the largest voting machine manufacturer in
the U.S. and counts almost 60% of all U.S. votes.

[link]

[link]

9. Diebold's new touch screen voting machines have no
paper trail of any votes. In other words, there is no
way to verify that the data coming out of the machine
is the same as what was legitimately put in by voters.

[link]

[link]

10. Diebold also makes ATMs, checkout scanners, and
ticket machines, all of which log each transaction and
can generate a paper trail.

[link]

[link]

11. Diebold is based in Ohio.

[link]

12. Diebold employed 5 convicted felons as senior
managers and developers to help write the central
compiler computer code that counted 50% of the votes in
30 states.

[link]

[link]

13. Jeff Dean, Diebold's Senior Vice-President and
senior programmer on Diebold's central compiler code,
was convicted of 23 counts of felony theft in the first
degree.

[link]

[link]

14. Diebold Senior Vice-President Jeff Dean was
convicted of planting back doors in his software and
using a "high degree of sophistication" to evade
detection over a period of 2 years.

[link]

[link]

15. None of the international election observers were
allowed in the polls in Ohio.

[link]

[link]

16. California banned the use of Diebold machines
because the security was so bad. Despite Diebold's
claims that the audit logs could not be hacked, a
chimpanzee was able to do it! (See the movie here <
http://blackboxvoting.org/baxter/baxterVPR.mov>.)

[link]

[link]

17. 30% of all U.S. votes are carried out on
unverifiable touch screen voting machines with no paper
trail.

[link]

18. All -- not some -- but all the voting machine
errors detected and reported in Florida went in favor
of Bush or Republican candidates.

[link]

[link]

[link]

[link]

[link]

19. The governor of the state of Florida, Jeb Bush, is
the President's brother.

[link]

[link]

20. Serious voting anomalies in Florida -- again
always favoring Bush -- have been mathematically
demonstrated and experts are recommending further
investigation.

13 Dec 2004 @ 10:58 by jazzolog : Minstrels Opposing Bush
More about that title later. I ended up going to the Green Party Recount Training session in Athens County yesterday. I hadn't planned to, but a friend was putting on pressure (using an unfair weapon: my wife) and I did want to make sure they'd have enough volunteers without me participating directly. We do, and so do surrounding southern counties I guess. I remain concerned about liberal skills at organizing at the hands-on grassroots level. I no longer know what interest the Libertarian Party, which is sponsoring the Ohio Recount with the Greens, has in the proceedings. http://www.lp.org/lpnews/0412/presidential-recount.html However the Green Party website is alive with news about how things are going. http://www.votecobb.org/

Our state capitol of Columbus promises to be the place for excitement this Monday. Our Electoral College votes for Bush today, and probably for the first time in 200 years there will be a crowd protesting. David Cobb will speak at the rally outside the Statehouse, as will a great list of others. The feeling is, of course, the electors have no business meeting yet because of the irregularities uncovered thus far on Election Day. As always, the question is why does Secretary of State Blackwell want to appear to have things to hide?

News has surfaced overnight that John Kerry formally has joined the actual recount effort---partly. Previously his clout entered the picture to support the certainty before the Federal District Court the Greens and Libertarians would be allowed to proceed. Now he is asking to view 92,000 specific votes. (Blackwell has certified Bush beat him by 119,000.) The Associated Press broke the story, but this time the media is carrying it. ABC News has the whole dispatch http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=324234 , while The New York Times has it published http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/13/national/13ohio.html minus the final remarks of the ubiquitous Carlo LoParo, whose biography still seems to evade Google except as Blackwell's "spokesman." As you can see from the story, Kerry sent a letter to all 88 Ohio County Boards of Election over the weekend, making 11 requests of them. Hopefully, later today we'll learn what the other 10 are.

Congressman John Conyers, ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives, convenes the continuing "forum" on Election 2004 in Columbus today too. I don't know how many other congresspeople are coming from Washington with him, but Jesse Jackson again is listed prominently to be there. Conyers also heads the Congressional Black Caucus, which you may remember was alone in protesting the 2000 Election, and heartbreakingly could find not one single senator to join its call for investigation. New York Attorney Ray Beckerman's blog has a good rundown on who, where, and when on this, and more about Ohio---updated constantly. http://fairnessbybeckerman.blogspot.com/#110226258199324878

But the blog that's truly on top of this election story continues to be Brad Friedman's. This guy doesn't only report, now often scooping even the Associated Press; he digs in, follows up and investigates. As you know, the attention his blog has gotten on the Internet during the last week tore open his bandwidth to the point even he couldn't get in to post. So he has set up Brad Blog Too just to cover all the fraud stuff and Ohio especially. This is where the Clint Curtis affidavit appeared---the guy who claims he developed the software for a Florida Republican congressman to change totals in electronic voting machines. So what happened to this story? What did the congressguy say, how did Yang industries respond, and what are their attorneys saying about Curtis? Brad went after it...and here it is~~~ http://bradblogtoo.blogspot.com/ Scroll down past the Ohio stuff.

Which brings me to the minstrels. MOB actually means Mothers Opposing Bush, a group that still is vital and going. Minstrels Opposing Bush is my new group. I had the strangest experience this morning when I NewsGoogled "Ohio recount" and found the top story to come from a New Zealand press release. Here was an affidavit from a Richard Hayes Phillips, a professional hydrologist with a Phd in geomorphology. Statistics are a second language to this man, and he is presenting analysis of election results in some Ohio counties...and finding discrepancies galore. http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/WO0412/S00167.htm So I wanted to read his original document, and click by click I ended up at his own blog: The Lyric Poetry Website. How's that again? You mean I'm not the only guy who'd prefer a book of poems, some bread and cheese, and thou beside me...to all this political corruption? We may have a new movement here! http://web.northnet.org/minstrel/website.htm

13 Dec 2004 @ 23:10 by vaxen : Discrepencies...
galore. Pussy Galore. James Bond. Trout. Watermellon Sugar...ah, Brautigan.

http://www.tvnewslies.org/html/election_2004.html

Civil War? Since when was there anything 'civil' about war?

14 Dec 2004 @ 01:42 by jazzolog : Clint Curtis Names Names
Brad Blog Too reports Curtis was the sole sworn testifier today in Columbus before the House Judiciary Committee representatives. http://bradblogtoo.blogspot.com/

14 Dec 2004 @ 15:03 by dempstress : I guess that at this point
Kerry must just be grateful that at least his face still looks the same as when he started campaigning.....

14 Dec 2004 @ 16:20 by jazzolog : Saving Face
If Kerry so much as showed his face at this strategic juncture Dempstress, we could check out your theory. Keith Olbermann feels the same way right now, as witness his latest column at MSNBC~~~

• December 13, 2004 | 7:37 p.m. ET
Xenia-phobia (Keith Olbermann)

SECAUCUS - If the subject weren’t so serious, the clunky maneuverings of John Kerry and Kenneth Blackwell would make for a nice modernized version of the Keystone Kops, or maybe Gilbert & Sullivan.

It’s hard to tell which of them is doing the worse job convincing anybody that there’s nothing to see here — keep moving — pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Here is Kerry, insisting he is not invested in the outcome of an Ohio recount, asking through his lawyers to inspect the 92,000 ballots that contain no vote for president. And, through his interactions with Jesse Jackson and John Conyers, connecting into the Alliance for Democracy lawsuit to overturn or freeze the Ohio Electoral count, and into the assessment that Blackwell’s behavior “appears to violate Ohio law.”

And here is Blackwell, having insisted on 'Countdown' that there would be a re-count and his office would take no steps to prevent it, stepping on his own feet in Xenia, Ohio. Last Friday, Greene County election officials there tossed out two Green Party observers who had been given access to the examine the voting records there, attributing their actions to Blackwell’s directives that the so-called ‘canvassing period’ which follows every election be extended from ten days to more than a month because of the fact of the recount. Those county records, Blackwell’s people reasoned, needed to be sealed and handled with the “utmost care” until the recount was completed.

Mr. Olbermann's essay continues at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240/

15 Dec 2004 @ 16:17 by jazzolog : "Irregularities" And "Problems"
All well and good media coverage is starting to happen, as BradBlogToo http://bradblogtoo.blogspot.com/ and Ray Beckerman http://fairnessbybeckerman.blogspot.com/#110226258199324878 and Keith Olbermann http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240/ are pointing out today...BUT the headline is turning out to be "voting irregularities" and "problems." Might we query how such a mild frame is being selected? Do we not have before the House Judiciary Committee an affidavit and sworn testimony that Florida Republican Congressperson Tom Feeney commissioned Yang Enterprises to develop software to alter electronic voting machine tabulation illicitly in 1999? Might we inquire whether voting suppression and fraud have been REGULAR activities of Republican representatives ever since?

17 Dec 2004 @ 10:29 by jazzolog : Ohio Update
This message probably will be mostly links. It strikes me that what is going on in this state is of incredible importance to the nation and the world. Yet trying to get a picture of it is enormously difficult and time-consuming. Go to Google News and search the splash page in vain. Try putting in "Ohio recount" and the stuff is old, tame, and more concerned with Washington State. This is because the media just isn't reporting it. I'm getting better coverage about us from Seattle than anywhere else...but of course the gubernatorial race there is driving home to those folks just how significant an honest election gets to be.

And so I make the rounds of a dozen sites that usually keep on top of things, mostly because their participants are directly involved in making the news themselves. Bloggers also are networking to share information and then get it out to our lists and online. (History shall record bloggers as the new Minute Men and Women!) I also joined 2 Yahoo Groups of the dozens formed about the election: CASE_OH and ElectionFraud2004. CASE_OH members are posting about a thousand messages a week, night and day, but it's Susan Truitt's Group and many are involved in the Recount itself and the demonstrations. ElectionFraud2004 is calmer and of course keeping track of Florida and New Mexico along with Ohio.

Something that did make the news late yesterday afternoon (at least on WOSU out of Columbus) was that the Cliff Arnebeck/Jesse Jackson challenge to the presidential election in this state was thrown out by Ohio's Supreme Court chief justice. Trying to get details on the story initially was hopeless, but as usual the Associated Press soon picked it up. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20041216/D87109CO0.html It looks like a technicality, and so the groups can refile. Apparently Arnebeck made the mistake of trying to clarify the case by referring to the re-election of the chief justice himself (heh heh). The judge said you can't question 2 elections in the same case. He did NOT add, "Especially my election." However, as Bob Fertik points out at his blog, this trivial action "drags out the clock some more, and brings us closer to a court shutdown over Christmas..." http://blog.democrats.com/blog/6

The case itself is a catchall for any number of voting "irregularities," fraud and suppression. Of major importance the last couple days was news coming out of Hocking County. As Michigan Representative John Conyers tells it in a letter to the FBI, on "December 10, Michael Barbian, Jr., a representative of Triad GSI unilaterally sought and obtained access to the voting machinery and records in Hocking County, Ohio, modified the computer tabulator, learned which precinct was planned to be the subject of the initial test recount and made further alterations based on that information, and advised the election officials how to manipulate the machinery so that the preliminary hand recount matched the machine count." http://votefraudnews.com/news/docs/conyers_fbi_1.html Triad is one of the companies that makes the machines we had to use in Ohio. Possibly a number of laws were violated. A deputy director of the Board of Elections in Hocking County has submitted a signed affidavit to the House Judiciary Committee, which now is calling for an investigation of the election.

At this point the Kerry/Edwards campaign started edging closer to full-fledged involvement. Green Party Candidate David Cobb brought forward the Hocking material to Conyers on Tuesday, and Wednesday Kerry's attorney here wrote a letter to Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell requesting investigation. But more important, the letter asks that the "tabulating system" on those machines not be used in the Recount in that county, in other counties where Triad was conducting "maintenance" since the election, and maybe everywhere. Kerry/Edwards wants the machines impounded. http://rawstory.com/exclusives/kerry_1216.php If the Recount in this state is "compromised," the sound even the media must report will be a screeching halt. And that should include consideration by the Congress of Electoral College results and the Inauguration itself. But we shall see.

Besides RawStory.com and VoteFraudNews.com, I recommend the Green Party site as well for updates on all this through the day. Cobb's site is doing very well in reporting county by county progress in the Recount. http://www.votecobb.org/ I know a number of us have become increasingly impressed with him. Deomocrats will do well to include him in future deliberations to redesign their political party.

There is one more matter to intrigue your weekend. Once again Brad Friedman has done the investigative journalism the newspapers used to do. His The Brad Blog has been upgrading and soon will be able to tolerate the volume of his entries, plus our comments and all the traffic the site is getting. http://www.bradblog.com/ In the meantime though, Brad Blog Too has the action...and what he's come up with this time makes the mind reel. You remember Clint Curtis who developed the "vote-rigging software" for Yang Enterprises (on commission from a Florida Republican congressman). One of the employees Curtis mentioned in his affidavit to the House Judiciary Committee is Henry Nee (a/k/a Hai Lin Nee) whose expertise is "wiretapping modules." According to Brad, who always does this kind of homework, Nee pleaded guilty last October to charges related to attempted shipments of Hellfire Anti-Tank missile parts to China. He was caught in a 4-year sting operation by Immigration and Customs. (Even though there is talk of this guy being an "illegal alien," Nee walked with a hundred dollar fine and 3 years probation.) http://www.bradblogtoo.blogspot.com/ The pure conjecture strikes me that what if characters like Nee get access to vote-rigging software and send that stuff to China too---or elsewhere? I know a number of people around the world who were very interested in casting a vote in our presidential election, by any means possible. Anybody know where you can buy that software?

19 Jan 2005 @ 09:12 by jazzolog : Speaking Of Biblical Sex
(which phrase opened up this article back at the top) Republicans have gained, by hook or by crook, enough majority in the Congress to amend the United States Constitution every week if they want to. Topping the Bush agenda is an amendment to define marriage so that it will reflect our nation's Biblical values, doncha know. Thanks to friends Indira and Tom, here are some Bible verses to remind us what that will mean:

A. Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man and one or more women. (Genesis 29: 17-28; II Samuel 3: 2-5)

B. Marriage shall not impede a man's right to take concubines, in addition to his wife or wives. (II Samuel 5: 13; I Kings 11: 3; II Chronicles 11: 21)

C. A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife turns out not to be a virgin, she shall be executed. (Deuteronomy 22: 13-21)

D. Marriage of a believer and a non-believer shall be forbidden. (Genesis 24: 3; Numbers 25: 1-9; Ezra 9: 12; Nehemiah 10: 30)

E. Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor the constitution of any State, nor any state or federal law, shall be construed to permit divorce. (Deuteronomy 22: 19; Mark 10: 9)

F. If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marry the widow. If he refuses to marry his brother's widow or deliberately does not give her children, he shall pay a fine of one shoe. (Genesis 38: 6-10; Deuteronomy 25: 5-10)

6 Mar 2005 @ 10:51 by jazzolog : Whatever Happened To Rep. Tom Feeney?
You may remember Feeney was fingered before members of the House Judiciary Committee by software developer and programmer Clint Curtis for commissioning some work from Yang Enterprises, where Curtis was working at the time. In October of 2000, Feeney allegedly asked for a "vote-rigging software prototype" program. You also may recall when BradBlog broke the story last December http://bradblogtoo.blogspot.com/ , some of us thought we had the smoking gun for Presidential Election fraud. Oh well, this is America after all---and so on to the next media event: and surprise! maybe Feeney is planning it~~~

Congressman's Fundraiser To Toast Rather's Retirement
By Jeff Dufour and By Patrick O'Connor

Representative Tom Feeney (Republican-Florida) is hosting a fundraiser Wednesday at the Capitol Hill Club to celebrate the last broadcast of veteran "CBS Evening News" anchor Dan Rather, who has long vexed conservatives with what they see as a liberal bias.

The "C'est La Vie Comrade Rather" event - for the benefit of Tom Feeney for Congress - will be held from 5-7 p.m., during which attendees will watch Rather's final newscast at 6:30.

Feeney told The Hill that the open bar will remain open only if guests drink from their left hands.

The event appears to be more about a spurring a good turnout for Rather's end than about collecting cash: The tariff for admission is relatively modest, at $100 for members and $50 for staff. Jason Roe, Feeney's chief of staff, said that as of Friday afternoon, at least 15 members had committed, as well as a host of staffers.

"Response has been overwhelming," said Feeney. "People are excited to come. … A lot of us conservatives believe that we'll be celebrating the end of the liberal lock on the airwaves."

He indicated that more such attention-getting events may be on the way, courtesy of his campaign. He said he has in mind a series of tongue-in-cheek awards to be bestowed annually on liberal flies in the conservative ointment.

They may include the "Robert Byrd Cultural Sensitivity Award for Treatment of Minorities," the "Howard Dean Rhetoric Award for Understated Eloquence," the "Ward Churchill Academic Defense of America Award" and, not to forget the reason for Wednesday's party, the "Dan Rather Journalism Award."

http://www.thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/030305/feeney.html

C'est la vie? Does that mean Rather is a French communist?

24 Jun 2006 @ 19:20 by dolfina : Are We All Crazy?
Or, are They Really Out to Get Us All?

24 Jun 2006 @ 19:53 by dolfina : Bibble Babble
jazzalog, you are sounding more like the women in my mothers side of the family more and more...

my great aunt, over sixty years ago, had to get re-Babtized from Dakota Swedish Lutheran Church and to the Minnesota Danish (if I can recall that right) Lutheran Church. She had to answer questions about the Ten Commandments. Apparently, she had to prove to the Minister that there there is evidence for the Swedish version, which is: that the blood of christ is symbolic vs. literal. I am sure she had to get her quotes. it is too much for me to recall of those references.

24 Jun 2006 @ 20:21 by dolfina : Honestly
My last corporate job was in the dBASE department as a dBASE Tech Support Engineer at Borland, Intl. Publically, I have stated more than a few times that I prior to that job offer, I was offered a job for the Naval Military Intelligence for Satellite Weapons Targeting in Oakland which I turned down and told them, "I would rather be a Buddhist nun."

That established, I still do dBASE programming for my research and give database files to my healing students as I believe that all good healers should share good knowledge. So, during the election seasons, I saw a lot of the dBASE programmers putting up bannners on their websites to proclaim their republican views. I know how to program a database from source xbase source code. I learned that when databases were still on DOS. I know that that the issues of code are embedded and that even two programmers may not be able to read each other's code.

For instance, in psuedo code:

i = i + i(x+y)

It looks redundant but i can be instantiated to mean one thing and then re-represent itself when re-cast as variable. So, one would have to look i and find out what that means, if it is a bug--loops, find out the logic the programmer was using behind the reason s/he would even re-cast the same name variable. That is a simple example. Add a dll in which there is embedded algorithms which are symbolically coded and you have to actually deconstruct it to look at the source and then re-interpret the logic. Then add to that a program is calling many dlls and you do not know what they are doing, if the program is using them all, or one is encrypting code and another decrypting. In other words, you can embed a bug or a code that merely tallies the totals to always be off the mark, erring in whichever statistical result desired, hiding from other coders working on the same code.

Honestly, all we really have to see is that most of the old time database programmers worked for corporate industry, prisons, schools, military, etc... and you can see that there is an historical basis of engineers being slanted to controling the data of our country. Databases are the key to indexing, catagorizing, finding, sorting, manipluating people and their information. During elections, Republicans were going house to house with their laptops and handheld pcs with their databases at hand.

So, is it any wonder that the Republicans who believe in the Separation between Business and State sell thier databased software to err on the side of their candidates?
