Well based on NOAA data its a little to complex to determine if earthquakes and climate are related and the records don't go that far back only to recorded history
but there was some warming going on around 1000 AD which does correlate somewhat but difficult to say for sure so it is a perhaps correlation of a probability of 1/5000 say.  More >

I hope aid arrives quickly to Haiti and Port Au Prince , they only have 2 or 3 days to reach survivors.
Was the epicenter right at the capital? Perhaps the G20 could convene via teleconference and have
emergency meeting and coordinate a global response.
This is worse the the 2004 Tsunami it would appear.
