Rests The Folly

Slumbers pillow in form a lover’s dream
Sweet kissing’s befall the midnight air,
To embrace soft bedclothes in lonely emptiness
Substance lost spite ardent prayer.
Reaching out in silent, quiet loneliness
I beseech the sacred to blaspheme  More >

Mouse Love

By the gate the dew dipped threads spun in silent minuets.
While crickets danced and sang like frenzied castanets.
The moon smiled round and stars winked down at the frogs along
the lake.  More >

 Sleep apnea2 comments
Friday, May 28th 2004
For many years I was living with undiagnosed sleep apnea. I would stop breathing for short periods during my sleep. I finally asked my primary doctor to refer me during the summer of 2002. I waited and waited. No referral. I finally faxed a request to my pcp to get me a referral. It had been almost a year and I was not feeling any better.

The doctor taking the patients (NOT my pcp) finally referred me within a week of my fax to them. A few weeks after that I was scheduled to get a sleep study done. In August of 2003 I went in for a sleep study. They hooked me up to all kinds of electrical recording devices. None of it was painful; I looked like a gutted android.  More >

Before The Mirrored Lake

We dance in the netherworld
You and I before the mirrored lake
Fires in your eyes forsake
Propriety and reason
Into the fiery depths you take me
As I flail helpless in your grasp  More >

 The Far Land1 comment

The far-land journey will send you down
Down you will go to the depths
The deeps
The darks
Creeping into the vine shrouded valleys
Climbing the shale slicing mountains
Will you slide and slink and sink?
Will you die spent and needing drink?
Down you will go to the wilds
The lost
The wanderers
Will there raise a standard flying?
Waving above to lead past the mire?
The sinking
The slinking
Sliding again to the boggy mazes
Watching moonfaced phases
Now the dark, deep valley
Will lose you in her heart
The pain
The quicksand
Who will throw the saving vine?
Will you?
Will I?

 Sleep Fair Warriors0 comments
Wednesday, May 26th 2004
Sleep fair warriors through the misty night,
Take shelter from foul creatures of land and flight.
Dream upon the green swirling sea,
Steed of wind, wild and free.
Plummet great cliffs into the fray,
In somnolent battle 'til breaking day.  More >

Like an Unexpected Birdsong

Like and unexpected birdsong from a lonely mountain forest
springs the joy from my heart.
A distant rumbling thunder echoes an ever-growing internal storm
The streams and lakes mirror the rush and calm of your eyes
that look back to mine,
Your send the light into eternal beckonings.

May the hidden glens and meadows
protect the gentle breezes that sigh in the eventide.
Birch and ash and oak and pine in their own glorious way
stand in sentinel silence like your firm peaceful soul.
Be gentle as the night slowly descends to rest upon the sleeping day
and the rousing darkness.

There you are amongst the stars that hold all things
in my waiting quietude.
I wait,
I wait
Forever hearing the rumble of the storm.

In a Darkened Dream

In a darkened dream the stars fall
Never seeing the dawning morn,
Never shining upon the still waters.
In a darkened dream hope sighs,
Fearing the light’s brevity of time.  More >

Hidden Treasure

Traveling on the astral winds tonight
I come to see the mists of the dawning tide
There will be calling sirens to tempt my path
Yet I will quest to find the hidden treasure
It lies in the darkened forest
Hiding under a small mushroom
There will lay a tiny stone
I shall wear that glowing, shining stone
When I fly, it will light up the darkness
And I will see your sleeping form
I will gaze at you, remembering your touch
You tempt me to glide down beside you
And let my weary soul rest
Against your warm, loving heart.
In parting, I leave you a gift
May its light bring you peace.

Things Undone

Endless stones on a grassy hill
Watching the flowers nod and sway
In spite of the sun I felt a chill
As I counted each rose and daffodil
Their brightness filled the silent day  More >

Cloudy’s Contribution
By Marissa A. Spencer

I remember his hands were gnarled from the numerous times he had broken them. The fingernails were split and blackened by years of hard work. He muttered, through clenched teeth full of nails, for the rasp. My hands lifted the heavy rough tool to him. I knew all the tools he worked with by heart.  More >

The Reluctant Visionary

I was attending a meditation/metaphysics class taught by an older gentleman from my reiki group. I was not one to do a lot of meditation and I felt it would do me good to learn a bit about the process. So I started sitting quietly from time to time, emptying my thoughts and relaxing.  More >

The Loch and the Lad

The dark water roiled beneath the moon's shining,
shivering cold the liquid did bubble.
Slithering back and sensuous fin,
what kind of creature lived therein?
Moaning a sigh of sorrow and trouble,
she anguished with love's lost pining.  More >

When do you believe in yourself? In my reiki group I have a dear friend, an older gentleman who has experienced many spiritual things. We had been discussing the Cherokee. Now, many debate the origins of this group. He had some dreams regarding this and was curious.  More >
