The last couple of weeks I've been encountering the dialogue word in a number of unrelated places. It isn't like this is a new term for me and that once I had learned it then I started to notice that it was around. This was like it was in my face and demanding this was a concept that needed attention.  More >

The Race To The Rainbow Bridge

The choices are clear:
either tyranny or enlightenment

My first instinct is to tell you this has nothing to do with current events, politics or religion, but in fact it has everything to do with all three.

My second instinct is to say the most important principle in human politics is separation of church and state — not to prevent the timeless and proven principles of all religions from benefiting humanity, but simply to preclude the bickering and misunderstanding over terminology that diverts all arguments about what will enable the human race to survive its own nasty habits into frivolous sectarian hairsplitting.

As a species, we are on the brink of a passage toward a new way of living, of existing, of organizing human society on our planet. The old way has failed, demonstrably. Power accrued to the hands of a greedy few does not result in trickle-down benificence, as the inbred rich continue to insist. And we have no knowledge that a genuine democracy could achieve a greater degree of justice because no actual democracy has ever been in place. But we do know that the old system produces endless wars and toxic graveyards, so wouldn't it be worth at least a try to attempt genuine democracy just once.

Humans are unable to resist material corruption; everyone has a price beyond which their morality fails. We have, by and large, abandoned the exhortations of Jesus to love our neighbors in favor of the bogus belief that money can immunize us from mortality.

Can we devise new mechanisms to mentally vaccinate our minds against the temptation of corruption on a social level? As the human species races toward a future of uncertain outcome, these mechanisms must doubtless center on the nature of money. Rather than continue on our present course toward a more definitive master/slave society in which military force is the defining commodity, we need to find a way to amplify the psychological priority of morality and correspondingly lessen the attraction of first-person greed.

 Communications Is The Foundation6 comments
category picture15 Apr 2004 @ 23:37
This is my first article in the OrgasmoVolution blog, and I thought that I should explain what this term means. That was a couple of weeks ago and since the words weren't coming that would do justice to the concept I thought it might help if I approached this step by step and supply some related concepts first. The OrgasmoVolution will not happen on the first date.

Not to worry, I have no doubt in my desire for achieving that objective, and it is ubiquitously entwined with my every thought.

Communications is the foundation, and the lens through which I view the world and history. When you have a hammer everything looks like a nail, and with communications theory everything looks like it is part of the process of evolving communication structures to handle ever higher degree of complexity. Where a mechanical world looks at cause and effect billiard ball type reactions, the communications world looks like an exchange of messages with objects acting on their own initiative. Every piece of information exchange is a communication. Even the little puff of dust at the bottom of the cliff is the earth telling Wiley E. Coyote that it is time to stop falling. Everything is a communication.

All of the other worldviews and ideologies that I have read about are based on a foundation of power and control. This is the foundation of politics and economics. These are subsets of a higher class, that of communications, which can achieve the objectives of politics and economics, but it has additional powers and capabilities. Communications encapsulates power and economics, to use the computer modeling terms of Object Oriented Design. And the affirmation of the reality is so much more than the design.

Communications is a very broad field: there is the history of communications; organizational communications; rhetoric, persuasion, propaganda and the mass media; social control, literature, culture, mythology and more. From the technical side of software conferences on the world wide web, to the hacking of the collective consciousness through memes influencing the oral narrative plot, it is probably the ideal multi-disciplinary specialty.

I hope that gives you a hint about what this blog is going to be about. I'll get into more details in future articles, and many of these articles will be riffed off of things others bring up in this blog community, as they already have, and why I've decided to make a commitment to settle in here for awhile. And oh yeah, like I said earlier, everything I do is part of this whole OrgasmoVolution project, so this subject will keep popping up.
