sometimes I wander into the shadows...

The Darkness

The darkness can be such a soft, quiet place.
I feel safe, hidden, waiting in the silence
My mind reaches into the vast beyond
To greater spheres and greater places
While I am in my tiny existence here.
Do they see me?
I wonder at times.
Those who in their darkness wait
and watch and listen to the silence
Do they imagine they are fading away
into the darkness?
Too?

Had to come into the darkness for awhile to wash my mind in light, skookum.

Darkness is light expanding. Light is light focussed. ;)

I also.. must wander amongst the quiet shadows... to clear my mind and to rest from the intensity of that other place...

Here is a place where you might find some comfort and some knowing, dear skookum...

The Friars of Wycombe wore white druidic-style hooded robes with silver badges inscribed with the motto 'Love & Friendship'.

Lady Mary Wortley Montagu

A HYMN TO THE MOON.

Written in July, in an arbour.

Thou silver deity of secret night,

Direct my footsteps through the woodland shade;
Thou conscious witness of unknown delight,
The Lover's guardian, and the Muse's aid!
By thy pale beams I solitary rove,
To thee my tender grief confide;
Serenely sweet you gild the silent grove,
My friend, my goddess, and my guide.

E'en thee, fair queen, from thy amazing height,
The charms of young Endymion drew;
Veil'd with the mantle of concealing night;
With all thy greatness and thy coldness too.

To Lady Mary and the Moon

I watch Lady Mary walk before me.
Through the woodland shade
She casts her arms to the dark heavens
Entreating the goddess that glimmers there
She wipes soft tears from her upturned face
To me she turns and beckons the way
A secret path through the silver night.
I follow softly behind.

Of course ... I should have known that you of all people here would know her. What a lady and such a forerunner of all we hold dear. Do you know that she discovered the cure for smallpox? An amazing woman and I so love her poetry. As Robert Graves, once upon a time chief poet laureate of England, said in reference to women writing poetry: They should right as if they were the "Goddess herself" ... which, of course, they are.

Do what THOU wilt shall be the whole of the law. ;) Luv ya skookum.
"Entreating the goddess that glimmers there."
