Eagle

Intermediary between Heaven and Earth. Due to the Eagles superior point of view and keen intelligence, they achieve material abundance and good fortune. A messenger gifted with patience and a deep sense of value, Eagle brings hope and trust on the wings of spirit. Eagle persons are very detail oriented and technically inclined. Compassionate service to others sustains prosperity for Eagle persons as the flapping of wings would sustian his bird brothers. If Eagle becomes viscously competitive or possessive, greed and jealousy cause a fall from the heights. Eagles, being blessed with freedom of movement, should be aware of escapism. Eagles may be tempted to just fly away from troubles by using indulgences.

Born with a deep love of Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman, is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength of charactr through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness. Patience born of strength and skill can turn to pounce of quick decision and action. Both bold and stealthful, Jaguars do not often attack directly and communications from them usually contain some mystery. In the absence of integrity, Jaguars power corrupts becoming a search for wealth and fame.

Eleven is the energy of dynamic actions facilitating change, simplification and improvement. To those born with this energy, some persons are put off by too much change. Maybe you've noticed?
Reed

Reed persons are the spiritual essence, protectors and guiding light for family and home. They are competent speakers who will take up a cause. Very tough and analytical, Reeds endeavor to bring peasce, harmony and order to all of their relations. Reeds are blessed with great skill at negotiations and consoling which are very often put to the test. Although Reeds need a lot of appreciation, many have marriage or business problems because of inflexible views and high expectations, which erode affinity. The lesson for Reed is to be like a garden hose, not a steel pipe.

This is a new category for the Mayan Day based on the Tzolkin calendar. The calendar is the primary defining element of a culture and is what creates their reality. You are what you pay attention to and as a collective there is no single element that people pay more attention to than their calendar. It is so ubiquitous that most people aren't even aware of how much of an effect it has on creating their reality. Our Western culture revolves around the Gregorian calendar (est 1582), which revolves around the sun, which constantly reminds us that the center and be all is material with no place for the spiritual.
The Mayan had twenty different calendars. The one most frequently cited is the Haab calendar, which is of the Earth and was used mainly to set the tax days which were a function of the harvest and it wasn't used for much else. It was the only one that archeologists paid much attention to since they couldn't understand anything that wasn't synchronized to the solar year.
The two calendars used most by the Mayans were the Tun (360 days) and was the divine or prophetic calendar, and the Tzolkin (260 days) which was the personal and astrological calendar. This calendar was made up of 13 Personal Intentions, represented by a number; and 20 Astrological Aspects, represented by a sign or glyph. Each of the 260 days in the year had a unique combination. The Mayans also believed that they chose the day on which they were to be born, that this has significance, and since their first name was the number and glyph everybody knew what that significance was.
