New Civilization News: My Connection to Mayan
 My Connection to Mayan1 comment

This started in the Unity Wisdom day entry of the Mayan Days category, as a comment, but it was a bit long and more personal than communal, and I'd like to see the Mayan Days migrate to its own blog once it gets established.

I've known about the Mayan for a long time but it was only as an item of interest. There are many things that I find interesting but I don't feel personally attached to them. The Egyptian mthologies fall into that category for me, with Isis and Osiris defining the structure at the start of the patriarchal era and Horus being the emerging story yet to be told at the end of the patriarchal era, which I believe is happening right now. There are so many different philosophies and ideas out there and especially when a person ventures outside of the mainstream, but they don't take on any significance, or motivate a person to become obssesed with them until their is that personal attachment.

My attachment to the Mayan started with the Autumn equinox in 2001, and then has been recently strengthened with a lecture I attended a few days ago. The details of that can be found at MayanMajix.com in the learning lab section of the site.

This lecture on the Mayan Tzolkin calendar that I went to last Thrusday wasn't advertised very good. Ian was from out of town and didn't know the usual advertising places I guess because he put it in the classified ads rather than the usual entertainment listings or the free monthly Spiritual magazines that we have here in Vancouver. Total fluke that I even noticed it. Then I lucked out because it was being held just eight blocks due West of my house. He started out the lecture by saying that we co-create our reality by our intention, and that our intention was based on the time and place, and that was a big part of what he had to tell us. I was so impressed with his talk that I even spent twenty bucks for the Calendar monograph just to help with his trip. He is traveling on donations, and he has to pay for hall rentals and advertising, etc.

The day I heard the lecture was 'Manifestation Road', and things have been unfolding from there, one step leading to the next.

Ten / Manifestation
-------------------
What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present with the energy of Ten. This is the energy when what has had attention and intention focused upon it becomes real. A powerful energy that carries a great responsiblity.

Road
----

The bearer of time, and the conductor of destiny. These persons open the road and guide the the future groups, communities and individuals alike. Likeable, obedient, dedicated hard workers and organizers. Road persons are fotunate in business and travel. Many become care takers of the poor, sick or old people, where they make many personal sacrifices. Sometimes referred to as the sign of Grass, which is the most bountiful of all life forms but is also, the most humble. Road persons are affectionate and emphatic, they are easily hurt but slow to anger. This holding in of negative emotions unexpressed resentment can lead to illness, a poisoned opinion of others and a false bravado for this sun sign.

A good day to: Do some community service.

----------------
So I'm not a Road person but it sure does fit in well with the start of taking a long time dream and turning it into a reality. I'm totally serious about this cosmic orgasm thing don't you know.

I'm starting to wonder if I should learn all this and take it on the road as well, maybe going across the prairies. I asked him if he minded me putting this up on my blog and he said please do. At the end of his lecture he mentioned that he hoped that others would be inspired to give lectures as well, since there was no way he could get to every place.

This latest interest in the Mayan captured my attention because of an event that occurred at the 2001 Autumn Equinox. That was when we held a large drumming circle combined with a collective intention. There were about 1500 people there. Here are a few pictures. It was very intense day. Prior to the ceromony there were some Mayan elders that came up for it and held a sacred circle which was something that the event organizers hadn't planned for. At that circle we were told that the time had come to open the Mayan gate of the north presided over by the torguoise serpent. This got my attention because I am a water snake and this was a Kundalini year. This meant a lot to me since it was twelve years earlier during that last kundalini year that I had this incredible trip into the void, three weeks without sleep and an incredible experience which I still have a hard time explaining. But that's another story.
