9000 year old Indian civilization0 comments
16 Jan 2002 @ 12:40, by ming. History, Ancient World
Marine scientists in India say an archaeological site off India's western coast may be up to 9,000 years old. The revelation comes about 8 months after acoustic images from the sea-bed suggested the presence of built-up structures resembling the ancient Harappan civilisation, which dates back around 4,000 years. Here's an article from BBC  More >

I always come back to *dialogue* as a central ingredient in creating a new civilization. That is, a space of mutual exploration where we can talk about what we're experiencing, without any need to judge each other. I particularly support dialogue as David Bohm described it. Several people have compiled excellent resources on dialogue. See Tony Judge's page at UIA and Heiner Benking's Open Forum page. And the people who introduced me to dialogue: Linda and Glenna at The Dialogue Group. Also, check out Deep Dialogue.  More >

Here is an interesting one to check out. BUT please be warned the "gentleman' behind this technology is a twisted genius with paranoid tendencies. Still that doesn't detract from the interesting technology and its many potential applications.

 Post-Modernism6 comments

The term "post-modernism" has always confused me. Or, rather, I must admit that I never got a good definition. Now, researching it some more, the best explanation I can find is in these pages. Modernism was characterized by a belief that rational, orderly progress of one well-identified central metaphor, such as Science or Capitalism or Communism, was going to solve things. Post-modernism is the end of belief in any such absolute truths; replaced with a sense that everything is relative; there are no universal answers or agreements; culture just fragments into a playful celebration of chaos. We're surfing across multiple paradigms, without any of them being the obvious RIGHT one. Mostly it means that Science and your local Political Paradigm have been deposed as gods of your world. You can make up the truth as well as they can.  More >

Monsanto hid decades of pollution0 comments
5 Jan 2002 @ 13:19, by ming. Environment, Ecology
Well researched and horrifying article from Washington Post, about Monsanto Corporation's attempts at hiding (very) incriminating evidence about its widespread pollution in the past. E.g. in producing the toxic (and now banned) industrial coolant, PCB, it put thousands of times the legal limit into local streams, found by their own experiments that fish submerged in a local creek died in 10 seconds, spurting blood and shedding skin, and still they decided it wasn't worth the expense to do anything about it, and they kept it quiet. This is information is based on internal Monsanto memos. Good news is that many past manufacturers of PCBs are being forced to clean up their messes.  More >

 Cattle mutilations are back0 comments
5 Jan 2002 @ 12:31, by ming. Paranormal
Seems like the famous cattle mutilations are beginning to happen again. See article in Great Falls Tribune. Still not clear who's doing it, but the official explanations of it all being natural predators and hoaxes are so far-fetched that somebody's obviously hiding something.  More >

Wow, here's an idea that might change some things. Some people are working on systems that would allow you to post information attached to a physical location IN that location so to speak. If you're carrying a GPS (Global Positioning System) device, and you have some kind of wireless always-on Internet connection, you might have access to what other people have said about the location you're in. And you might be provided with that information automatically whenever you go there. There's a good article in
New Scientist, and the people at Hewlett Packard who're working on it are at CoolTown. This could all open up some nightmare visions too, but I think there can be a lot of cool uses for it.  More >

Bio weapons aside, I was thinking about what I read in this artical,
[link]
about this lost tribe, and the temple of Solomon. What did the temple of Soloman represent? It ment to me a house of wisdom. Then it struck me, what if the internet was the temple of Solomon? What if people in chat rooms buliten boards, ICQ, etc... were somehow part of this lost tribe, even the native Americans came to mind. I thought about what Asher was but, ill need to read up on that, lol, but how can you tell if someone is from the Asher tribe? I mean do they have some obviouse trait? Does it mater if this tribe does or dosen't litraly go to Isriel, if they are connected on the net?

Ancient Sunken City off the Shores of Cuba1 comment
10 Dec 2001 @ 06:00, by ming. History, Ancient World
Explorers using a miniature submarine to probe the sea floor off the coast of Cuba said on Thursday they had confirmed the discovery of stone structures deep below the ocean surface that may have been built by an unknown human civilization thousands of years ago. The explorers said they believed the mysterious structures, discovered at the astounding depth of around 2,100 feet and laid out like an urban area, could have been built at least 6,000 years ago.
